In 2015 Dan Kepner created Andalog LLC, which is a unique company that designs and creates custom art using old and new woodworking techniques. Many of the products developed utilize various techniques and technologies including wood turning, hand carving, CNC, laser engraving and electrocuting wood.
Dan Kepner is self taught and researched for several years how to create fine art in one of the oldest art forms of woodworking. He has developed his own process to electrocute wood by using 12,000 to 15,000 volts of electricity. This grows "Lichtenberg Fractals" in many of his home decor and jewelry pieces. He enhances his art by hand carving and inlaying the fractals with metal and stone inlays . His pieces are hand polished and finished with a mineral or walnut oil and beeswax to give each piece a luxurious feel. He has developed a proprietary technique to steam bend wood to an extreme radius for his money and tie clip designs. The bent wood money clip was the catalyst for Andalog, when searching for a Father's Day gift provided no results he took it upon himself to make his own. Developing this technique has given Dan a passion for woodworking that has spawned numerous designs and products which continue to evolve today. One of Dan's favorite items to make are his steam bent wood bracelets. They are made utilizing solid wood or layers of wood veneer in a laminate. He uses a variety of domestic and exotic species to create a range of unique designs Andalog has grown to allow for custom designs and projects. Bring him your ideas for an amazing piece of your own! |
